Ministry team kickoff and fellowship: We hosted 10 of the ministry team for dinner and fellowship at Maranatha Mansion. Great time of fellowship with the officers and spouses and others that weekly help out with the ministry here at the Naval Academy. We truly could not do it without them. We also discussed the upcoming year and the weekly Bible studies that we would do this semester.
Chaplain Religious Activities (CRA) kickoff: Once the Brigade of Midshipmen returned, the Chaplain’s hosted a kickoff rally to introduce the different Protestant Chaplain Religious Activities (CRA). The event was a fellowship dinner of nearly 600 midshipmen and officers. OCF hosted an information table and also had many of its leadership team go out into the crowd to meet the new plebe class and hand out flyers of upcoming events. A perfect way to kickoff the year.
Highlighted Weekly/Routine Activity
OCF Tuesday night kickoff: Tuesday nights were kicked off this semester with guest speaker, LtCol Hezekiah Barge, USMC who spoke on “Working for God and Resting in God.” We began the night with a time of fellowship and all the mids enjoying some home cooked food. We also had an awesome time in worship as the OCF praise band kicked off the gathering before Hez spoke.
Sightings of the Month
On one of the first Friday nights we hosted a Plebe fellowship on the Yard and served pizza. Great opportunity to bring together over 60 plebes. God was working as Bryan shared his testimony and the importance of each of them answering the question that Jesus asks in Mark 8:27-29, “Who do you say that I am”! The plebes made a short order of 25 pizzas and tons of deserts! Great night!
The six Para-Church organizations that include the Navigators, Cru, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, College Younglife, and Officers’ Christian Fellowship continue their weekly meeting to fellowship, coordinate and pray for one another.
