USNA: Highlights from September

Special Activities

Weekend cookout/boating event: The midshipmen had a great time enjoying the beautiful weather and great food as we spent the afternoon on the river swimming, canoeing, kayaking and tubing. Once again, the Wilkins family did a great job hosting about 65 midshipmen and officers at our annual cookout/boating event on the Severn River. Great time to swim, boat and fellowship amongst the mids. (50 mids/15 others).

Highlighted Weekly/Routine Activity

OCF Tuesday nights: OCF Tuesday night continues to be a great opportunity for the midshipmen to gather for fellowship and connecting around a home-cooked meal. We follow that up with a time of worship and a relevant speaker challenging the midshipmen in their walk! We started off the month with Pastor Ed O’Mara challenging the midshipmen to have real rest in God. The next week, OCF Executive Director, BGEN David Warner challenged the midshipmen to follow the example of Daniel in their Godly character. The last two weeks we have had Pastor Ron Foster sharing two lessons titled “But God”, where God has interjected himself into the Bible with the words but God. Great study! And all great lessons to challenge the midshipmen!

Sightings of the Month

A handful of midshipmen gather on Wednesday to be challenged by Francis Chan’s book ‘Crazy Love’. In living crazy love, Francis Chan challenges us to live a more loving relationship with Jesus through our daily walk. Great study! Great to see the midshipmen come each week to really live out their faith.
