Be Part of the Miracle
In Luke 9, we see Jesus ministering to the multitudes. As it was getting late in the day, Jesus' disciples came to Him and suggested that He send the people away so that they could find food and lodging.
However, Jesus had other plans. He told the disciples, "You give them something to eat!"
The disciples thought, "This isn't going to work." There were about five thousand hungry men (plus many women and children) and all they had were five loaves and two fish.
Now to put this in true perspective, what the disciples probably had were round cakes like biscuits, and fish the size of sardines or slightly larger-typical food for the poor in Palestine at the time. With only five biscuits and two sardines, the disciples asked if they should go buy enough food for all the people.
Then Jesus told the disciples, "Have them recline to eat in groups of about fifty each." Probably too shocked to even respond, they did what they were told.
Jesus then took the five biscuits and two sardines, blessed them, and broke them, and kept giving them to the disciples to give to the multitude. Not only were the five thousand men fed, but there were twelve full baskets of broken pieces left over.
I believe that Jesus performed this miracle (the Feeding of the Five Thousand) in this way so that the disciples could "Be Part of the Miracle."
The disciples found the food, brought it to Jesus, organized the multitude, passed out the food, and picked up the leftovers.
OCF is hoping that the Lord will do a miracle in our Capital Campaign to raise $12.5 million.
This is where you and I come in. The Lord is going to raise the $12.5 million. But He's not going to do it alone. He doesn't work that way. He wants to work through you and me. He wants us to "Be Part of the Miracle."
So what can we do? We can pray! We can pray for the Lord's leading in the campaign and we can pray for our personal commitment.
So watch, be prepared, and pray! And, "Be Part of the Miracle!"
