As we look forward to the new year, and in spite of what we hear on the news, there are a few things we can count on.

God will still be on the throne.

“The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 103:19).

His compassions will never fail; they will still be new every morning.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23).

His grace will still be sufficient.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness'” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

God’s promises will still be true.

“Does he [God] speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19).

God will still be faithful and good.

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm 27:13).

His blood will still have the power to forgive sins and justify for eternity.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7).

His love for you will still be an everlasting, unfailing love.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with lovingkindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).
