Clay and Marty Thomas farewell reception at OCF's White Sulphur Springs

During a weekend filled with fond reminiscences and godly fellowship, family and friends of Clay and Marty Thomas gathered at White Sulphur Springs 25-27 April to wish the longtime Director Couple well as they retired after 25 years at WSS. Nearly 200 were on hand for activities planned by the WSS Advisory Committee which were highlighted by a Saturday-night reception and dinner, followed by a special Sunday-morning worship service in the Pettijohn Room of Heritage House.

The dinner program was opened by OCF Executive Director David Warner and featured presentations to Clay and Marty of a photo collage and a "Shutterfly" coffee table book offering visual reminders of the many years the Thomases devoted to the White Sulphur Springs ministry. Their predecessors, Ray and Helen Johnson, and Clay and Clara Buckingham, were honored with the Thomases through the unveiling of photo portraits to be displayed in Harrison House in celebration of the "Stewards" who have faithfully overseen White Sulphur Springs through the years.

Pastors John Cartwright and Greg St. Cyr offered messages during the Sunday-morning service, with the Order of Worship incorporating some of the Thomases' favorite hymns and scriptural passages as well as special music which included participation by members of the Thomas family. On Sunday afternoon, members of Bedford community and National Capitol Region attended a reception for Clay and Marty, who will continue their OCF involvement from their home in Chesapeake, Virginia.
