Pastor Chris Plekenpol: “Everyday Christianity”
About the speaker: Chris graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1999 and served in the Army for seven years, including commanding a company in combat in Iraq earning a Bronze Star. Upon God’s call in his life to ministry, Chris attended Dallas Theological Seminary and received his Masters in Theology (ThM). Chris traveled as an evangelist and missional group trainer with iamsecond.com for two years before becoming the Lead Pastor of Wells Branch Community Church in 2012.
Chris is married to his beautiful wife Adrienne, a graduate of Abilene Christian University, the Children’s Ministry Director at Wells Branch Community Church, and his best friend. They have four incredible boys: Austin, Jett, Titus and Paxton. Chris loves watching sports, especially Army Football, dancing with Adrienne, and thinking of creative and innovative ways to communicate the love of God.
About the topic: Chris explains how God was at work in the everyday life of the church at Thessalonica. He will explore the parallel between the new testament church of Greece compared to the American church today. You will be astonished at how nothing has really changed in combating the influence of culture on the church. He will challenge all to impact the culture, whether military or civilian, with the love of Christ.
Concurrent Programs Available: Horsemanship Day Camp (ages 8+), Camp Caleb Day Camp on June 15 (2nd-3rd grade), Camp Caleb Junior (3rd-4th grade), Camp Caleb Adventure (5th-6th grade), and Allegheny Outback! (9th-12th grade)
Horsemanship Day Camp is a great opportunity for kids (ages 8+) attending our Summer R&R program to learn more about horses. Our Wranglers teach aspiring equestrians basic horse anatomy, the essentials of riding equipment, techniques for tacking and grooming a horse, walking and trotting instructions for beginners, and then they’ll all hit the trails to gain real-world experience! Daily devotionals throughout the experience will focus on the lessons we can learn from one of God’s most majestic creatures.
A five-day traditional summer camp program with age-specific programs for rising 2nd-8th graders, Camp Caleb brings military youth into an authentic personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to strengthen their own family and peer relationships, and to prepare them for standing for Jesus Christ as teenagers.
A six-day program for rising 9th graders through recent high school graduates, Allegheny Outback! challenges teens to develop their very own personal knowledge of God by modeling Christ in real-life situations with plenty of adventure along the way.
