As cadets and midshipmen return to routines this s As cadets and midshipmen return to routines this semester, an OCF group at Furman University recently enjoyed some well-deserved time away.

“Our Bible study group took a trip up to Black Balsam Knob, NC, and had some great fellowship in the Lord's creation!” shared Cadet Chase Kuhlman, USA.

“It was a much needed break from our week of academics and training! Our group would appreciate prayers in support of our leaders being images of Christ whether it be in training, PT, or the classroom. Many of our group members hold key roles in ROTC, and it is awesome seeing how the Lord can work through them with our Cadets.”

It is important to the health of OCF’s ministry It is important to the health of OCF’s ministry that we have leaders who are members of Christ-proclaiming, gospel-driven churches. Our leaders need to have a place where they sit under the preaching of the Word every week, where they are known and encouraged toward obedience, and where they have leaders over them who have a responsibility for the care of their souls (Hebrews 13:17).

It can be challenging for OCF members to know how to participate fully in their local church while simultaneously leading and participating in OCF activities, so here are a few thoughts:
• Don’t minimize the challenge. It is tough to do both, but growth happens when we press beyond our own abilities and resources. If the Holy Spirit is convicting you to host/be part of an OCF group, then obey that call.
• Share OCF’s ministry focus with your church leadership early on—cast a vision for OCF’s military ministry. Talk about the unique opportunities OCF equips you for, grows you in, and sends you to do. We rejoice when the local church sees itself as your sending body. Maybe the church will “recognize” your OCF group as part of their military outreach or as the small group they want you to be part of.
• Bring TDY/TAD guests to church with you, not allowing new arrivals to languish in a hotel room alone.
• See if your church can develop a fast-track method for military membership so these folks can get involved and volunteer or serve within the church soon after arrival. Maybe a letter of introduction from the last church they worshiped with will help with this.

In the midst of man’s evil and God’s displeasu In the midst of man’s evil and God’s displeasure with him, Noah found favor “in the eyes of God.” When all around you are caught up in misbehavior, unethical practices and wickedness, how should you respond?

When we have our eyes set on godly living, the lust of the flesh has no attraction. We will dare to do bold things for God, and we will influence others. Noah was 600 years old when he, his wife, his sons, and their wives boarded the ark. For roughly 100 years while the ark was under construction, Noah’s convincing example was so credible that his sons followed their father’s lead throughout the project. And what of the centuries before construction started? The Lord’s commendation is “You alone I have seen to be righteous before me in this time.”

What has God commissioned you to do? In your vocation or avocation, are you aware of the influence that your obedience is positioning you to wield? In your home, church, community, and work, steady obedience to God’s always perfect, sometimes counter intuitive directions for living is still the way to distinguish yourself for God in your time.

No Rickrolling for this #ocffellowshipfriday... La No Rickrolling for this #ocffellowshipfriday... Last weekend was a great one! Our friends at @crusafa hosted a retreat at @springcanyon and heard from @ocf_field_engagement (a sweet example of ministry partnership!), while USMMA and USCGA OCF gathered at @wssocf and heard from @kgpeck.

Pray for these men and women who participated in these retreats as they've returned to routine from a weekend away of studying the Word and making memories.

"Inasmuch as I am a sinner and deserve the wrath o "Inasmuch as I am a sinner and deserve the wrath of God, and since Jesus Christ died for my sins, was buried, and has been bodily resurrected, according to the Scriptures, I have accepted Him as my own personal Lord and Savior and am saved by His Grace alone.

"I am committed to the purpose of OCF: To glorify God by uniting Christian officers for Biblical fellowship and outreach, equipping and encouraging them to minister effectively in the military society. As an expression of my commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and to His work in the military society, I will participate actively and prayerfully in the ministry of OCF with my time, talents, spiritual gifts, and financial resources. I further commit, by God’s grace, to live my life as an example consistent with Biblical guidelines."

This is the statement of faith & participation that unites all OCF members. We are a ministry body made up of enlisted, officers, and civilians who are a part of Christ’s body—brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, and all eternal co-heirs in Christ. May the Holy Spirit make us more like Christ in our relationships with those we touch and work among!

Ever had the feeling of being inadequate for a tas Ever had the feeling of being inadequate for a task, but deep down inside you knew you had to take it on? The situation or event was yours to win or lose, but your internalized anxiety hindered your ability to believe that things would end well. That lack of faith is not the Commander’s desire for us. Rather, His intent is that we stretch ourselves to demonstrate bold and courageous faith. The faith required to act on the seemingly unfeasible plans of God may take us well outside our comfort zones. It may well force a confession or a denial of God’s sufficiency, of His simply being enough. Moses had a similar dilemma.

Moses made many excuses. He could visualize no plan that resulted in successfully bringing God’s people out of Egypt. Moses might have thought: Lord, what you’re asking me to do is impossible. He asked, “Who am I?” God did not ask Moses if he wanted to go to Pharaoh. He told him, I am sending you. In so doing, He extended to Moses the assurance that he (Moses) was indeed sufficient for the task because God himself would be present: “I will be with you.” Later in Exodus 33:15, Moses declares, “If your presence will not go (with us), do not carry us up from this place.”

Though Moses’ response is still tenuous, he is coming to understand the power that accompanies His presence. Distress and discouragement—the unwelcomed duo—are banned from His presence. Anxiety is checked at the door, and faithlessness becomes courageous faith in action.

From today's #OCFPowerinPrayer reminder: Martin Lu From today's #OCFPowerinPrayer reminder: Martin Luther King Jr. Day | “We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
