Col Hous & Tami Waring, USAF (Ret.): “Abraham’s Gospel in our Christmas Celebration”

The Christmas season is special anywhere, but we take great joy in hosting guests during Christmas and New Year’s at White Sulphur Springs. The stunning mountains covered with snow, the tables laden with warm food, the hotels decorated in the spirit of the holiday season, and the meaningful connections made between families and friends make Winter Retreats unlike any other season throughout the year. Many guests who live the ever-transient military lifestyle join us year after year, and we’re honored to be a place families have made part of their holiday tradition.

About the Topic: We will look at Paul’s letter to the Galatians to understand what he meant by the Scripture “preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham.” It is exciting to know that we are in the lineage of Abraham through our faith in Jesus Christ! We hope to depart encouraged to hold fast to the gospel which has been delivered to us in the Scriptures, rejoicing in the remembrance of Christmas, and anticipating the return and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!

About the Speaker: We are both US Air Force Academy graduates (1988, 1984) who connected with OCF during our cadet years. Our vision for OCF’s work grew through the training of OCF’s USAFA staff. Thus, we came into marriage desiring to do military ministry together. We spent 25 years on active duty hosting, leading, and serving in various OCF ministries. We are now in our 8th year as staff with OCF. During our AF careers, Tami was a Space System Analyst (5 years), while Houstoun spent most of his career as a pilot (25 years).

God has blessed our family with children and grandchildren who are scattered across eight states. When we are not traveling, we enjoy our quiet and alone moments. Hous builds, creates, and improves many things around our house, barn, and five-acre property. Tami enjoys knitting, puzzles, reading, and games. She is OCF’s Associate Staff for Women Engagement. We still love to travel to visit and encourage those in uniform, those separated or retired, local churches, and others connected to the military community.
