GTH 2025 Summary

OCF held its second Global Town Hall 8 February at the Home Office in Colorado Springs, Colo. The event included opening remarks from Council President Dale Holland and CEO/Executive Director Scott Fisher; field reports from a local leader couple, the OCF West Point field staff, and conference center directors; and concluded with a brief Q&A time.

Here are some of the key themes that emerged from the Global Town Hall:

1. Strengthening Fellowship & Community Growth
OCF continues to emphasize fellowship as a foundational aspect of ministry, recognizing that life is not meant to be lived alone.

2. Equipping Local Leaders & Expanding Leadership Training
A major focus is on empowering local leaders, with new initiatives like the LEAD Conference (Local Leader Equipping and Developing) launching this summer at Spring Canyon. A hybrid training approach will include in-person regional gatherings, an online learning management system (LMS), and mentorship to ensure that leaders are prepared not just with knowledge but with real relationships.

3. Enhancing Awareness & Engagement with OCF
OCF is actively working to increase awareness among military members who may not know about the organization. Events like the Impact the Nation series (with the next one in April in Washington, D.C.) are designed to introduce OCF to new audiences, re-engage former members, and raise resources for ministry growth.

4. The Role of Conference Centers & Overcoming Barriers to Attendance
The Spring Canyon and White Sulphur Springs conference centers remain key hubs for military families to experience spiritual renewal and deep fellowship. However, many OCF members are unaware of these centers, and cost concerns can be a barrier. Leaders emphasized scholarships, discounts, and the affordability of attending compared to other vacation options. They encouraged members to be “bringers and senders,” inviting others to experience the transformative environment of the centers.

5. OCF’s Global & Strategic Ministry Efforts
OCF continues to strengthen its global presence by engaging with military Christian fellowships worldwide, particularly through partnerships with the Association of Military Christian Fellowships (AMCF). Strategic fundraising efforts focus on diversifying financial resources, recognizing that God provides but also calling on members to support the mission financially.

6. The Importance of Retirees & Enlisted Members in Ministry
Retirees and former military members were encouraged to stay engaged, as their experience and wisdom are vital for mentoring and supporting active-duty members. Additionally, OCF reaffirmed that while it is an organization focused on ministering through officers, it exists to impact the entire military community—including enlisted service members.

7. Strengthening Partnerships with Churches & Chaplaincies
There is growing recognition of the need to strengthen partnerships between OCF, local churches, and military chaplains. Some pastors are highly engaged with the military, while others struggle to understand how to minister effectively to a transient military population.
