The Lord Jesus received the baptism of John for repentance, as an act of righteousness on His part, emphasizing that He took His position on earth as man. Although He thus received a rite that signified the confession (verse 6) and repentance (verse 11), both necessary in the case of man seeking God, He was baptized not “to fulfill all repentance” but “to fulfill righteousness” (Hebrews 4:15, Luke 13:3). 🕊️

For completeness, John the Baptist’s reference to Jesus “baptizing with the Holy Spirit and with fire” (Matthew 3:11) foreshadows both the work of the Holy Spirit in the Christian first seen on the Day of Pentecost, described as being baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38), and Judgment. Jesus will be our Judge (John 5:27) and that judgment, where we will be exposed to the consuming holiness of God Himself (Hebrews 12:29), will reveal the substance of how we have spent our lives (1 Corinthians 3:12-15). 🙏

I began running in the half marathon to raise ministry funds for OCF in the Puget Sound area. People have been very supportive of my run every year for the past 15 years, so much so that many in the area look forward to contributing to the ministry of OCF through this fundraiser every year.”

There's no better time than now to visit one of OCF’s conference centers! Special discounts are available for first-time guests, active duty military, and Local Leaders, among others.

At @springcanyon in Buena Vista, Colorado: Anyone who brings a first-time guest with them receives a 10% discount. Anyone who sends a first-time guest receives a 5% discount voucher. Any first-time guest who is brought or sent by others gets a 10% discount.

At @wssocf in Manns Choice, Pennsylvania: First-time guests receive one free night during their stay. Previous WSS guests who bring a first-time guest this summer also receive one free night during their stay. All active duty military get a 10% discount for meals and lodging. OCF Local Leaders get a 10% discount for meals and lodging.

Did you know White Sulphur Springs offers seasonal staff opportunities during its summer and winter programs? Youths and young adults ages 15+ are welcome and encouraged to serve in one of many roles ranging from housekeeping to cooks assistant to camp counselor during the June-August programs. Similarly, men and women ages 18+ can volunteer for up to 2.5 weeks over Christmas and New Year's during WSS' Winter Retreat season. 🏕️

Roles during these ministry seasons are a missionary calling where servants of Jesus Christ set aside time to give themselves in His service and minister in His name to the military community.

We believe God designed our bodies well and that culture, like it has in other aspects of life, has distorted our food and healthcare system, robbing us of many of the simple joys of God’s gifts to the body.

"This retreat is not primarily about discipline, but about how we can approach our daily life and choices as an act of thankful and Spirit-filled worship to glorify God through the stewardship of our bodies.

Q: How does one balance or integrate OCF involvement with commitment to the local church? 🤝

A: Going off of the comments here of OCF Council President Col Dale Holland, USAF (Ret.), a parachurch ministry like OCF needs its members to be part of a visible church, so if your church has membership, then we want you to be a member of a church so that you can be under its oversight. We cannot be “para” church (meaning an organization working alongside the visible church) unless there is a church body to which OCF members are connected. ⛪️

Here are a few practical ways you can participate fully in your local church while simultaneously leading and participating in OCF activities:
• The church should see that they are sending out laborers into the military mission field. Help your local church understand the way they are equipping you through the preaching of God’s Word, through church family relationships, and through caring oversight. 📚
• See if your church can develop a fast-track method for military membership so these folks can get involved and volunteer or serve within the church soon after arrival. 📝
• Help your church use the right words to welcome the military through online visibility. Encourage them to greet new people at services and find ways to help deployed individuals and families. 💬
• Help set up volunteer teams to assist PCS transitions (moving boxes, watching children, providing food, or helping clean). 📦
• Ask your church to call/text/email you and make sure your feet are firmly planted back in a solid church and OCF fellowship at your new duty station after you PCS. 🌍
