Prayer and study of the Bible are the fundamental Prayer and study of the Bible are the fundamental means God uses to unite our hearts with His. As we make decisions about our individual lives, our families, our Christian ministry activities, our careers, and countless other things, the Pray, Discover, & Obey process helps us draw close to God, discover His direction for us, and obey Him.

"Congratulations, Class of 2022! I am very proud o "Congratulations, Class of 2022! I am very proud of you and eager to serve alongside you for the Lord in our military. As you celebrate in the coming days and weeks, I would like to prayerfully encourage you as you prepare to start the career adventure that the Lord has for you.

My most important encouragement is to always pursue health in the Lord. You will be the most effective servant of Christ and enjoy the fullest life He wills for you if you are holistically healthy - spiritually, emotionally, relationally, and beyond. Stay firmly rooted in His Word, and establish as early as you can a healthy routine that is postured to thrive in His sanctification for you and the service of His Kingdom. This won’t happen overnight. It is a lifelong process!

My practical encouragement is to build a healthy community today. Do not wait until training becomes difficult or life stressors hit. Even before arriving at your first assignment, I pray you would seek ways to 'plug' into the local body of Christ - church, small group, mentors, and serving opportunities. Look up your local OCF group! Then once you arrive, dive right in, and see how God richly blesses you.

My prayer for you is that you will 'Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil' (Proverbs 3:5-7). The journey ahead will be full of joys and sorrows, celebrations and tribulations, but pursue health in the Lord and in community, and you will experience a sweetness with the Lord that this world could never give you.

Once again, congratulations, and I look forward to serving with you." -1st Lt Chipu Chu, USAF (United States Air Force Academy, Class of 2020)

"Congrats, Class of 2022! I am proud to have you s "Congrats, Class of 2022! I am proud to have you serving in our military during such a consequential time in our global operating environment. As you close this chapter, pin those glorious 2LT bars, and walk over the finish line of a long and arduous college experience, WELL DONE. The next chapter of your life will be challenging in new ways and rewarding in even greater ones.

If you’ve spent the last four years grounded in the Truth and within a loving, Christ-like community, keep that glorious momentum going! If (like me) you were dying to drive away from campus and not look back, having spent those years separated from God – there is always a way home. Our God is a loving Father who is always waiting with open arms for His children to return – no matter how far they have wandered. This new chapter of your life may be a perfect opportunity for rededication and commitment to knowing Jesus better.

Wherever the Lord sends you, there are fellow Christians there that are searching for and needing community just like you. Isolation is the devil’s foothold and it is easy to find yourself in isolation when PCSing – especially for the first time! I’ve been there. My husband has been there. We have friends that have been there. But Joshua 1:9 says, 'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.' Wherever you go. OCF was the home away from home for me. When I was alone at a new duty station, I found a family within my OCF bible study (which my mom made me go to, even at 22 years old) and they kept me accountable as I found my way back into relationship with Jesus. I pray you can find community wherever you go, too.

As you continue your journey in relationship with Christ, may you remain in His will and grounded in His truth so that when the day comes that you enter the kingdom of Heaven you hear those beloved words, 'Well done, good and faithful servant.'" -@lindsbowen4 (ROTC at Baylor University, Class of 2014)

Have you had an Elijah experience where you called Have you had an Elijah experience where you called out to the Lord with a prayer He answered differently than you expected?

Our home office staff reflected today on Charles Spurgeon's devotional, excerpted here, on 1 Kings 19. Elijah prays to die and the Lord denies this prayer as Elijah meant it but ultimately answers by taking him to heaven in a chariot of fire.

Even when God doesn't answer our prayers how we think He will, we can trust He, in His sovereignty and goodness, will always answer in a way for our good and for His glory.

We begin this next #ocfmonthlytheme of prayer by p We begin this next #ocfmonthlytheme of prayer by posing one question: Who is the object of your prayer life?

We may be quick to think prayer is a way for us to ask the Lord for our heart's desires, but a right focus on His heart for prayer in His commands to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17) shows us how we ought to view this spiritual discipline. The object of a life of prayer is less about what we ask and more about Whom we seek—the infinite, holy God who desires continual community with us. How does seeking God first in relationship transform your prayer life?
