OCF members and leaders come from within the ranks, live on and around military installations, and can go wherever the military goes.

We are a ministry of volunteers. This allows the effects of OCF to reach into military units and communities, because the primary work of ministry is being conducted by those in military-only areas on or under the sea, in the air, and on the ground.

And like Lt Col Paul Homan, USAF (Ret.), discusses here, that reach and impact amazingly extend to other countries' service members, too.

Capt Joseph & Emma Kovack, USSF, lead the first OC

Capt Joseph & Emma Kovack, USSF, lead the first OCF fellowship in housing at Schriever SFB. In the words of Lt Col Tom Falconer, USAF (Ret.), it's "truly an oasis in the desert." 🏝️

The Kovacks recently arrived from Cavalier SF Station in North Dakota and immediately stepped up to start a fellowship. They utilized a Facebook page for Schriever housing to let other families know about their new study, and five young families jumped in. With seven toddlers across all the attending families, one couple's older kids kindly babysit while parents dig into the Word together. 📖

There was a single root to Saul’s failure in 1 Samuel 15:1-26—a flawed view of God. This resulted in a flawed view of himself (verse 12). He was more concerned with honoring himself than honoring God and fearful of the people God had given him to lead (verse 24).

Who do we fear most? “The fear (reverential awe) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10). Scofield’s note on Exodus 8:26 is very much to the point. “The compromises proposed by Pharaoh are those urged upon Christians today. They say in effect: ‘Be a Christian if you want to, but don’t be a “narrow” one (i.e., stay in Egypt). Invariably it ends in world-conformity, world-pleasing, and seeking the world’s money for God” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

A worldly Christian is a double failure: he is no match for the devil and no credit to Christ. If you try to get the best out of both worlds, you will end by getting the best out of neither. The worldly person’s pleasure is based on self-seeking; the Christian’s joy comes from self-forgetfulness.

Our enduring and eternal family relationship is that which God has established through His adoption of those of us who belong to Christ. In light of this, we no longer look at one another as acquaintances and friends, but as brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters. These relationships define how we do life together.

Remember meeting the Falconers in yesterday's post? Here's an update from their ROTC/JO Bible study just last week.

"The uniqueness of the picture is that it includes Army Reserve, active duty Navy and Air Force, and a recently separated Coast Guard personnel," Tom Falconer said. "This combination of services is something I personally haven’t seen in a Colorado Springs fellowship before."

During last Friday's study, the Navy Commander in attendance gave a presentation to the Falconers' group on equipping Christian leaders to lead their teams in better performance and spiritual growth by implementing godly leadership principles.
